From Parable of the Talents Matt. 25 Comments from Graham Birch’s sermon
Let’s look at the talents given by the Master as a life to invest.
First point: Each of us is given deposits (talents) from the Lord.
Second point: There is an expectation that He will get returns.
Result: Two of three servants gladly invest their talents (or lives) and gave the master returns on His investment; the third had a different perspective of the Master. He determined He was a hard taskmaster and did not want to take a risk of losing what he had. Two of the three received the commendation, “Good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of the master.” The third was reprimanded for his laziness, lost what he had, and received eternal consequences.
Moral of the Parable: One’s perspective of God determines the willingness to risk, which in turn determines the reward.
God Bless,
Pastor Paul
